Wuxi's first LED solar street light demonstration project put into operation

March 01, 2023

The new district Suntech Plaza streetlight renovation project was completed and put into use at the beginning of this month. The clear solar streetlights have become the focus of attention. It is reported that this is the first demonstration project of solar streetlights in the new district in response to national energy conservation and emission reduction and green lighting.

There are 36 sets of solar street lights standing along the 500-meter long road along Suntech Plaza. The LED energy-saving lamps are used in the Qing Dynasty. The power of each street lamp is 80 watts. The solar street lighting system uses integrated batteries to store the solar energy collected by the daytime photovoltaic system and convert it into electrical energy for nighttime illumination, with a photoelectric conversion efficiency of 16%; while in rainy days, it still uses electric lighting. According to the technical staff, on the analysis of Wuxi climate status, 36 street lamps will save 70% of electricity every month.
